Youth Council

Liverpool Youth Council is made up of representatives from each of the five districts and also groups which operate on a citywide basis, and acts as a voice for young people in Liverpool. Through debates, meetings and events the Youth Council ensures that young people have a significant involvement in democratic processes and that their concerns are always heard.

Case study - Baltazar

Image of BaltazarBeing involved in the Youth Council and South Central Youth Advisory Group has really given me an insight into politics and an awareness of how Liverpool City Council operates. I now feel like I can engage in conversations with local councillors and people who make decisions and have an impact.

'It's a real challenge but having the responsibility of being Chair fo the Youth Council is rewarding and it was great to see over 150 young people at the Question Time event.

I got involved in the YAG & Youth Council initially for my own personal development, to learn new skills and develop my confidence but as soon as you get involved it becomes about more than that - I can now say that I have helped to make decisions which will affect my own life and those of other young people.'
