Youth Council
Liverpool Youth Council is made up of representatives from each of the five districts and also groups which operate on a citywide basis, and acts as a voice for young people in Liverpool. Through debates, meetings and events the Youth Council ensures that young people have a significant involvement in democratic processes and that their concerns are always heard.
Case study - Baltazar
Being involved in the Youth Council and South Central Youth Advisory Group has really given me an insight into politics and an awareness of how Liverpool City Council operates. I now feel like I can engage in conversations with local councillors and people who make decisions and have an impact.
'It's a real challenge but having the responsibility of being Chair fo the Youth Council is rewarding and it was great to see over 150 young people at the Question Time event.
I got involved in the YAG & Youth Council initially for my own personal development, to learn new skills and develop my confidence but as soon as you get involved it becomes about more than that - I can now say that I have helped to make decisions which will affect my own life and those of other young people.'
