Youth Council Meeting March 2010
Last week the Youth Council had their monthly meeting and continued with the mosaic which they have been working on. The Youth Council is a group of young people who have been elected to represent the views of young people across the city and discuss youth provision and issues important to young people.
The Youth Council is creating a mosaic to represent themselves and what they do to help other young people by giving them a voice. The mosaic shows a pot or money, representing the Youth Opportunity Fund and other funding which the Youth Council is involved in. The mosaic also shows a rainbow which is symbolic of the challenge to make a positive contribution and young peoples diverse views which the youth council strives to represent. The mosaic will soon be on display in the Fairfield Centre, Kensington where the Youth Council meets every month.
Also on the agenda was the residential which the Youth Council is going on, where they will be making a DVD to present their progress to the Youth Advisory Group representatives. They will also be planning their activity for the rest of the year and developing training for the new Youth Council members.
The Youth Council is also busy giving their feedback to the City Council's Children & Young People's Plan, which is all about how young people can make a positive contribution to their communities, and ways in which they can get involved with the schemes and projects which are going on all over the city.
